THE LAGUNA BEACH ANTHOLOGY OF POETRY AND SHORT FICTION

In Summer 2018, the City of Laguna Beach, California, and the city’s Arts Commission announced a writing contest to honor the tradition of art-inspired writing. For their inspiration, they chose Yangon Monastery, Myanmar, a photograph I made while visiting the Kalaywa Monastery in Yangon, Burma. Orange County residents were invited to submit original writings of 500 or fewer words inspired by the image. Thirty-three writers responded to the challenge. Their submissions were collected in a book: The Laguna Beach Anthology of Poetry and Short Fiction: A collection of art-inspired writings on Jeff Rovner's photograph: Yangon Monastery Myanmar.
